Weekly Announcements
WELCOME BACK ! We are just getting started and getting everyone organized. Please see below for updates from our first week! Parent Sports Meeting - August 220, 6:00 Curriculum Night – August 28, 7:15 – 7:45 Spirit Day – September 6 Students should be having their homework folder checked nightly to see if there is material that needs to be read and signed by parents/ guardians. Also by signing the planner you are acknowledging that you have seen their completed homework and behavior logs. Please do not sign the planner without looking to see if homework is completed Academics Spalding - The students will are reviewing and learning the first 70 phonograms. We are also reviewing the necessary methods for good cursive handwriting. Please encourage your student to write in cursive even at home – the more they do it, the faster they will get!. Language/Writing – Students will be taking pre-assessments to determine where they are leveled for writing. Students will also begin our first grammar lessons reviewing types of sentence structures. Reading - Students will be taking pre-assessments to determine where they are leveled for reading comprehension. We will also introduce our first book report. Parents should see book report packets by the end of the week. No Poem Recitations are due month. AZ Report (ie 1st book report) Due 10/04 – students should be starting to find resources and reading books this weekend. Math - Students will be taking pre-assessments to determine where they are leveled for mathematics. We will begin having homework on Wednesday or Thursday night depending on each class’ schedule. We have CD-ROMs available to borrow that allow you to download the Math Textbook on to your computer for home use and studying. Please leave a note in your student’s agenda if you would like to check one out, they are reserved first-come, first-served. . Science - Students will begin with learning about plants. We will be reading from our text book and using supplemental materials. Social Studies - We will begin with introducing and explaining the AZ Report – Book Report.
