Weekly Announcements
Early Release Day – September 20 (please remember no Boulder Club) Spirit Day – October 4 Students should be having their homework folder checked nightly to see if there is material that needs to be read and signed by parents/ guardians. Also by signing the planner you are acknowledging that you have seen their completed homework and behavior logs. Please do not sign the planner without looking to see if homework is completed Academics Spalding - The students will be dictating and learning Spelling list 5 this week. The spelling homework and test for List 4 are due on Friday. . Language/Writing – This week’s lessons will be reviewing and using prepositions. In writing, we will begin to learn about formal letter format and begin our first letters to our pen pals. Please be sure to return permission slips so that all students may participate. Reading – In reading activities this week we will be looking at how to infer information that is not given explicitly. In addition, we will begin to consciously sequence events in stories to bring attention to how important maintaining a proper sequence is in literature and writing. Poem Recitation is due September 26th. AZ Report (ie 1st book report) Due 10/04 – students should be more than ½ way done by now. Do not forget to have students make a bibliography card for any books or resources used. They will need to include a complete bibiliography with their project. (they have reference materials and practice cards in their writing/project folders) Math - Our next test will be on Wednesday, look for practice tests to come home on Tuesday for studying. This week we will also begin some lessons on geometry: identifying shapes and perimeter. Science - The body systems test will be on Monday. We will begin our next unit on Animal Adaptations this week. Social Studies – We will continue our study of early Arizona and how different peoples came to settle here and eventually develop our cities. Comments are closed.
