We will take Galileo benchmark 1 this week on Monday and Tuesday. Please try your best to be at school these days, as this test is very helpful in helping us prepare for state testing.
Friday is spirit day. Please join us for our morning assembly on Friday at 8:15.
Ms. Loreto's tutoring has been moved to Wednesday mornings at 7:15.
Our Learning this Week:
In Spalding, we will enter list 14 and be tested on list 13. We will take our monthly spelling assessment.
In language, we will study abbreviations, helping verbs, infinitives, suffixes and personification. We will complete grammar lessons 46-48. In writing, we will learn to write a narrative analysis. We will read the legend of Pandora's Box and students will be asked to write an informative essay about the characters, setting, and plot. We will also discuss other elements of the narrative, such as the theme and moral.
In reading, we are learning the elements of narratives (point of view, plot, etc.) We will read The Marble Champ in the Open Court Text on page 36. There will be a quiz over the story on Wednesday. We will continue with our book study.
In math, we will have a study guide Monday for the math tests on Tuesday. We will complete lessons 46, 47, 48, and 49 on relating multiplication and division, multiplying two digit numbers, and word problems about equal groups.
In science, we will read about rapid and slow changes to earth's surface. We are learning about earthquakes and volcanoes. We will read C Chapter 1 Lessons 2 and 3.
In social studies, we will learn how to read historical time lines. We will take the unit 1 lesson 3 quiz on Thursday. We will begin reading unit 1 lesson 4 on prehistoric, hunter-gatherer societies, the beginning of agriculture and the Mogollon, an early group of indigenous Arizonans.
