Spirit Day 10/5- Students may wear Spirit Day shirts
No School 10/8. Columbus Day. Students should be having their homework folder checked nightly to see if there is material that needs to be read and signed by parents/ guardians. Also by signing the planner you are acknowledging that you have seen their completed homework and behavior logs. Please do not sign the planner without looking to see if homework is completed Academics Spalding - The students will enter List 7 Spelling Words and will be tested on List 6 on Friday. Language/Writing – Students will continue grammar lessons focused on proper capitalization, linking verbs, and start sentence diagramming. Next grammar test will not be until week of 10/8. Reading - We will continue reading strategies and then move on to elements and implications of Autobiographies. We will learn more about and practice predicting, context clues, and making connections. We will continue reading in our book studies (Tale of Despereaux, Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nymn, The BFG and Holes - the study depending on which teacher your child has). We will be assessing reading comprehension with an autobiographical story about Helen Keller. Math - The students will continue with math lessons and will have the next test on Friday 10/05. We will complete Lessons 24-25 and practice some additional skills. Science - The students will finish up our unit on animal adaptations and begin working on the study guide for adaptation. Students may start studying notes now. Remember be creative with studying- changing the process and setting a timer can help improve focus and reduce resistance to studying. Social Studies - We will continue our study of Arizona by reading Unit 1, Lesson 5 and and expand our knowledge to include the Explorer’s ‘discovery of the Americas and what that meant for the regions.
