Our Learning this Week:
In Spalding, we are entering list 9 and being tested on list 8. We are entering rule page 5, relating to Spalding rule 12.
In language and writing, we are learning about reflexive and indefinite pronouns. We are also learning about adverbs and suffixes. We are going to complete grammar lessons 33-35. We are publishing our 5 paragraph informative essays and will now begin writing reports. Specifically, we will begin with a report on Arizona. We will complete grammar workbook lesson 34 on writing a bibliography. Students can use the bibliography cards created in class to help with their state report.
In reading, we will go over the reading log and state report. The state report is composed of bibliography cards, notecards, and a packet (given to the students). The state report is taking place of a formal book report. Students will all complete the report on Arizona. Students will be given a packet to complete (there is no essay) and an instructional packet that details each step of the report process. We will also go over directions for every portion of the state report thoroughly in class. We are continuing our study of the types of texts. We will learn about drama this week while we read The Book that Saved the Earth. We will continue with our book study.
In math, we will have a study guide Monday for the two math quizzes on Tuesday. We will complete lesson 31 and 34 on writing numbers and word problems about comparing.
In science, we will read A chapter 1 lesson 2 and A chapter 1 lesson 3 on animal classification.
