Progress reports will go home on Wednesday and are due back signed on Monday. Tutoring for Ms. Loreto's and Mrs. Mayes's classes will be moved from Thursday and Friday to Wednesday at 7:30 for this week only. Box Top collection will be this Friday. Please bring in your box tops! Food drive is this week. Our Learning this Week: In Spalding, we will enter list 13 and be tested on list 12. We will review rule 18. In language/writing, we will learn about hyphens, helping verbs, suffixes, gerunds, infinitives, and similes. We will complete grammar lessons 41-43. We will finish our informative analysis of Lou Gehrig. Students are learning to synthesize information from two different sources and form generalizations based on the information presented. They will write a factual analysis of the life of Lou Gehrig based on the texts, citing and referencing sources when appropriate. In reading, students are learning the elements of narratives: plot, theme, tone, style, characters, setting, conflict, resolution, etc. We will learn about the elements of narratives as we read A Bad Case of Stripes. We will continue with our book study. Students will complete their November recitation on Friday. In math, students will receive a study guide Monday for the test on Tuesday. We will complete lessons 42-44 on rounding, adding and subtracting decimal numbers, and multiplying two digit numbers. In science, we will finish our study of soil and resource conservation. We will read B58-59. There will be a study guide Tuesday for the test on Thursday. We will begin our study of ecosystem changes by reading B66-71. In social studies, we will have a geography bee. We will read unit 1 lesson 3 pages 26-31. |
