Weekly Announcements
- Please remember: students need to be working on their "Fancy Folder" and recitation. - Book Fair is this week! - Fall festival will be Friday at 6:15 pm. - Spirit day is Friday. Please join us for our morning assembly at 8:15 am, Academics: Spalding - We will be entering list 11 in our Spalding notebooks this week. We will be working on list 10 for homework and in class. Phonogram reviews will take place throughout the week. List 10 will be tested on Friday. We will also have a phonogram test on Friday. Language Arts - We will learn about descriptive adjectives and how to diagram adjectives. We will complete grammar lessons 39 and 40. We are also learning how to write a research paper. We will use grammar workbook lessons 36 and 37 to help us write and evaluate our research paper. Reading - We will learn about the different types of texts. We will learn about legends, fables and folktale this week. We will read "The Legend of the Indian Paintbrush," a fable and a folktale. We will continue with our book study. Math - We will learn how to compare fractions on a number line and we will learn about metric and customary measurement with regard to capacity. Science - We will continue our study of natural resources, including soil. We will discuss the effects of limited resources on an environment. We will differentiate between renewable and nonrenewable resources. We will learn about the impact of humans on ecosystems. Social Studies - We will read about timelines and then get into unit 2 lesson 1 "Spanish in North America." Weekly Announcements
- Thank you for all of your hard work in getting pledges for our Boosterthon fundraiser. Now we all need to collect the pledge donations. Your support is so appreciated and benefits our school in amazing ways! - There is no school on Monday (Fall Recess) - There is no tutoring on Monday. - The students should have their "Fancy Folder" project information packets now. It's best that they keep these materials at home once the teachers have gone over the instructions, examples, etc. Thank you for encouraging your children with this project. Academics: Spalding - We will be entering list 10 in our Spalding notebooks this week. We will be working on list 9 for homework and in class. Phonogram reviews will take place throughout the week. List 9 will be tested on Friday. We will also have a phonogram test on Friday. Language Arts - We will start to model and work on a 5 paragraph informative essay. We will learn about direct objects, verb tenses, prefixes and suffixes. We will complete grammar lessons 37 and 38. Reading - We are continuing our study of the types of texts. We will learn about drama this week while we read "Martha Helps the Rebel." The students will take a comprehension, vocabulary, and short essay test after reading and discussing. We will also continue with our book study. Math - We will complete lesson 31, 34 and 35 on writing numbers, word problems and mixed numbers. On Friday there will be a study guide for two math quizzes, which will be on Monday (10/29/18). Science - Students will receive a study guide on classification on Tuesday, then a test on Thursday. Social Studies - We will read about timelines and then get into unit 2 lesson 1 "Spanish in North America." Announcements - This week we will have half days on Thursday the 18th and Friday the 19th. Please send a snack/light lunch with your child and be sure they know how they will be getting home. We also do not have any school on Monday, Oct. 22nd.
Fun Run will be this Friday the 19th from 9:20-10:30 for 4th grade. Donations will still be accepted thru Friday.
Announcements:
**There is no school on Monday. **We will have a pep rally for Boosterthon on Tuesday. **Picture day is on the 11th which is Thursday. **The book log is due on Friday the 12th. **Boulder club is looking for toilet paper/paper towel rolls to use for projects if you remember to send those in, it would be appreciated. **It is finally chilling down a bit; please remember that students must be in dress code with outerwear in the classroom. This can be found in the front of their planners. No hoodies, or logos. **Three hours is required for volunteering each month from parents, if you have not met your hours please reach out to your teacher for things to help with. Grading is always appreciated. **We have worked very hard on giving all of the information possible to the students ahead of time, and also if things are forgotten at school. Please check our weebly website for lost study guides, spelling lists/rules, poems and much more. **Hours for tutoring are also on the website and are by invite only. Please make sure you are sending your child if you are invited as we are trying our best to help them be successful in their studies. You must email the teachers tutoring you are attending by 6pm each Sunday prior to that weeks tutoring. **Tutoring will not be in session this Monday 10/8 or next week due to conferences. Academics: Spalding- We will be entering list 8 in our spalding books his week. We are going to be working on list 7 for homework and in class. Phonogram reviews will take place throughout the week. List 7 will be tested on Friday. We will also have a phonogram test on Friday. Language Arts- We are going to be going over grammar lesson 33 and 34 this week. We will also be working on writing a friendly letter to the protagonist in our book studies. Reading- The students will be reading Louise Braille a biography and have a test over comprehension on Wednesday. Then we will finish the week with our book studies. Math- We will be doing math for today all week along with our timed tests daily. Students will also be going over lessons 26-30. We will also start investigation 3 on Friday. Science- We are starting our new unit on Animal Classification. The stidents will be reading A6-A9 and doing review questions and workbook pages. We will be showing a classification powerpoint in class. On Friday we will be doing an investigation on the backbone by building one so they have a visual on how it works. Social Studies- We are almost through our first Unit. We are going to be going over primary and secondary accounts in social studies along with doing a quiz on unit 1 lesson 5. The students will have a worksheet to finish out the first unit. They will receive a study guide for the unit to start studying from for the test they will be taking the following week on Wednesday. |
